24 May Macular Society
The macula is part of the retina at the back of the eye. It is only about 5mm across but is responsible for all of our central vision, most of our colour vision and the fine detail of what we see. We are one of the few sight loss charities that actively fund and support research into macular disease. Since 1990 we have invested more than £3.2 million to fund 57 different research projects, thanks to the generous donations of our members and supporters.
